  • I downloaded the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard but I can not log in. Why?

The username and password are case sensitive; capital and little letters matter. Make sure that you are not entering your email address for your username. If your email address is "johndoe@inlandnet.com", just enter "johndoe", NOT "johndoe@inlandnet.com" or "John Doe". Also, make sure that you have entered "mail.inlandnet.com" for the host name. Once you have successfully logged in, the host name and password (if "Save Password" is checked) will be saved for future use.

  • Help! MaTLDA™ is blocking email that I want to receive. How can I make it stop?

Use the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard to add the email addresses of the messages that were blocked to your White List. You can also add just the domain part of the email address, the part after the "at" symbol (@), to your White List if you do not want to miss any messages that might have come from that domain. For example, if you have lots of friends using yahoo.com email addresses, you can White List "yahoo.com" and any email addresses ending with "yahoo.com" will bypass spam filtering.

  • I am getting a lot of spam saying it is from "example-isp.com" but I have a friend using ExampleISP who emails me regularly. How can I tell MaTLDA™ to not block my friend but to block the spam?

Use the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard to add your friend's email address to your White List and add "example-isp.com" to your Black List. Your friend's email will be delivered but any other messages with an email address ending with "example-isp.com" will be blocked.

  • How do I know what email MaTLDA™ is blocking?

You can see what messages MaTLDA™ blocked by selecting the period from the "email RBL Spam Logs" pull down menu in the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard. If you select "Daily", every day a log will be mailed to you showing what was blocked the previous day. If you select a day of the week, you will receive the log for the prior week. For example, if you pick "Sunday" from the pull down menu, on Sunday morning you will receive an email showing what was blocked the previous week, Sunday through Saturday.

  • How can I tell MaTLDA™ not to interfere with my email?

There are two way to answer this question. The first is to uncheck "Local RBL" and "DNS RBL" using the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard. This will disable MaTLDA™ spam filtering but leave virus filtering in place. The second is to turn on "Tag Only" mode. This will end all filtering of your email by the mail server but does alter the subject. WARNING: "Tag Only" mode disables virus filtering and is NOT recommended.

  • I only email a couple of friends or family members. Is there a way to block everything NOT from my friends or family?

Yes. There is a special entry you can make in your personal Black List which blocks every possible email address. It is simply a single asterisk (*). So add an asterisk to your Black List and the email addresses of your friends or family members to your White List. Every message with an email address you have not added to your White List will be rejected.

  • I run a business and can not afford to miss even a single email message which has been miss identified as spam. But I don't want to lose the benefit of spam filtering either. What can I do?

"Tag Only" mode was created specifically to handle this situation. Most modern email clients (Netscape Messenger, Mozilla, Outlook Express) have ways of filtering messages. Turn on "Tag Only" mode using the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard. Then, in your email client, add a new folder with a name like "Possible Spam." Next add filters in your email client to save messages with either "[RBL: Local]" or "[RBL: DNS]" in the subject to the new folder. Last, add a filter that deletes messages with "[VIRUS:" in the subject. Messages that MaTLDA™ would have identified as spam will go into your new spam folder. Occasionally review the contents of this folder for miss identified messages and delete the rest. WARNING: Make sure that you tell your email client to automatically delete messages tagged as viruses. Otherwise, "Tag Only" mode is NOT recommended.

  • I don't use a Microsoft Windows operating system so I can not run the MaTLDA™ configuration wizard. Can I still use MaTLDA™?

Yes. However, it is a bit more complicated. Please contact Inland Internet technical support for instructions.
