The 2010 Summer Reading Program June 23rd - August 4th Register!
All children under 18 years old are invited to sign up to participate in the Summer Reading Program at the Roslyn Public Library anytime starting on June 23rd, or at the Carpenter Memorial Library in Cle Elum anytime starting on June 25th. The program ends on August 4th. Award! For kids under 10: You'll recieve a colorful logbook and stickers to keep track of the time you spend reading. Once you have filled in the logbook (about 16 hours of reading time), bring it to the library to choose a special prize and to be entered into a raffle for the chance to win a new bike or a gift certifcate to Fred Meyers. For Kids 10 and over: You'll recieve a surfboard logbook to keep track of the time you spend reading. Once you have reached 20 hours of reading time, you can choose a special prize and will be entered into a grand prize raffle for the chance to win a new bike or a gift certifcate. Wii Tourneys and Weekly Activities! Bring out your artistic side and come in to make masks and murals or become a pirate during our craft activities and events on Wednesday afternoons at 1:00pm at the Roslyn Library. Satisfy your scientific curiosity with a special water insect program on July 14th at 1:00pm. Sporty? We'll have Wii Tournaments throughout July on Tuesdays at 3:00pm for kids 10 and up. Click here for the schedule of events. Parties! The fun starts with ice cream parties to kick off the program on June 23rd at 1:00pm at the Roslyn Library, and on June 25th at 10:30am at the Carpenter Library. We'll celebrate with a finale pizza party on August 4th at the Cle Elum Park, with a tour of the Cle Elum River Salmon Hatchery to follow. Group Challenge - 1,500 hours If this goal of 1,500 hours of reading is met by August 4th, Erin the Librarian gets a pie in the face! Progress So Far...

1:00 pm Fish biologist Tina Mayo will
introduce children to water insects of ponds and streams in this wet
and wild science event.
Paper Mosaics with Granny GreenAll Ages. Join Granny Green in making colorful mosaics of lake, river, or ocean scenes. All Ages. Reading Buddy Day Monday, July 26th, 12:00 Noon Earn double minutes by participating in our Mentor Reading Hour. Bring a sack lunch, your favorite book, or one your reading now, and a reading buddy! Don't have a buddy? Don't worry we'll connect you with one here. Snacks and lemonade are provided. All Ages. Ahoy Matey - Pirate Party
Wednesday, July 28th,
1:00 pm Make yourself into a pirate with
an eye patch, hat, and sidekick parrot. Then we'll search for
treasure.
All Ages. Finale Party at the Cle Elum Park Pizza
party for everyone who has finished their reading logs, with a tour of the Cle Elum River Salmon
Hatchery to follow. Raffle
winners announced.
